On The Songahm Spirit of Taekwondo (#1)

At the beginning and end of each class at Fusion, we recite our oath, the “Songahm Spirit of Taekwondo.” To help us to learn the oath, it has been emblazoned upon the wall above the training floor. Attend class regularly, and you will soon know the oath by memory. Although we recite the oath faithfully, we rarely take much time to discuss and contemplate its meaning, importance and application. As students of Songahm Taekwondo, I believe it is our duty to take every opportunity to carefully carefully consider the oath, the tenets contained therein, and the reasons it is important to our practice. In posts for follow in coming weeks, I offer my observations about the tenets of our discipline.
