One of the most basic tenets of all traditional martial arts is respect. Respect means treating others with high esteem or special regard. Simply put, respect means treating people like they are very important. Most people enjoy the feeling that comes with being treated as very important or special. In our oath, we promise to treat our juniors and seniors with respect. Consider, though, that “juniors” and “seniors” may refer to rank, age, or experience, or perhaps combinations of the three.
